December 28
Happy Holidays to you all. I had an excellent Christmas, and
plan on having an excellent New Year. The picture was on the
homepage was taken by Brad Lovell in Nellis this year, pretty sweet
shot. We have got a decent amount of rain lately, so the
trails will be good soon. No one has called me to build or
ride trails, so I don't really know what is going on. No real
riding news, because it is the off season. I will try to go
riding before the New Year, and maybe get some pics up, if not then
just a good story and something to talk about.December 15
Finals week. End of the season. Plan to revamp the site
and add some argyle before the end of the year.
December 9
I have been riding A LOT lately. So much I don't even have
time to update! rawr! First of all, CONGRATS to all of the
people who went to the ABA Grands. Nic Long of course brought
the Amateur Title back to San Diego, so a special thanks to him.
And a few weeks back, Kahlen Young made a trip down to San Diego and
Kearny Moto Park, and at the Grands, he took home the AA Pro Title.
So I like to think that without his trip to KMP, he would not have
been able to win the title (obviously just my opinion.).
Kearny has been pretty decent to finish out the year. On
Friday, I raced and it was a stacked local moto. We had Nic
Long (amateur number 1 and doubled at grands) Rusty Nesvig (NAG 1
and doubled at grands) Bryce Hocking (ROC 1 and multiple podiums at
Grands) and then me. It was a pretty gnarly race, but of
course Nic Long ended up winning. Saturday went Dirt Jumping
with Rusty, Bryce, Justin Morgan and pROy Winkelman.
Went to Miracle trails, but they were muddy and sketchy, so we
decided to go up to San Marcos.
DB44 was there styling it out, along with a lot of people I
haven't seen since the fabulous days of the Encinitas Jumps.
Betcher has some sweet shots of the San Marcos Jumps on his site.
Sunday I went up to Orange Y for the double pointer, and it was
pretty crazy. First of all, a local from up there named Kyle
Cox, got the same exact frame as me a .38 Special (yellow.). I
was pretty bummed about that, so I am going to have to do something
new for next year or something. First round I was winning, and
came unclipped in the 3rd straight, and couldn't get clipped back
in, so I did a one footer and almost kicked Kyle Cox. It was a
complete accident, but I guess it looked cool. Second Round I
won hands down. In the main, I had 8 and Cox had 1, so I came
out of the gate and got over to about gate 2, and into the first
turn Cox bumped me so I swung outside and he swooped under. I
wasn't going to back down, so I kept going, and my front tire ended
up getting stuck inbetween his crank arm and his frame. He
couldn't pedal, I couldn't move, and we were both slowing down....
SO I JUMP OFF MY BIKE AND START RUNNING! It was really funny.
Boozer got film of it, and I will see if I can get a copy of it,
because it was pretty funny.

So I put the pics of from the sesh at
Wal-Mart on Sunday, and the videos can be
seen either on the home page or on youtube or in the video section.
All kinds of ways to check it! I never did land a 360... its
all good... I tried. I am ok by the way. It is a little
but troubling to eat and when I talk a lot, my tongue gets a little
sore, but no pain, and it seems to be healing up just fine. I
said I was going to have an inventory check for the slomoe shirts,
and here it is.

because as you can see, they are running out fast, and I only have
limited sizes available. I am willing to send them, as long as
you pay shipping. Other than that, grands practice is
tomorrow, so I will try to get some feedback on how the track is and
who is looking fast and such up asap! E-mail me at
bikamoe1011@aol.com if you
are interested in buying a shirt.

So my server people for slomoe.com (ehostpros.com) just upgraded
their service, and the program that I use didn't go with the new
upgrade-age. So that is where I have been. I have since
fixed the problem. Many people are going to the ABA Grand
Nationals this week. So I would like to wish them all good
luck. I am going to have a little something everyday this
week, (no promises lol). But today your gift is a video of
some footage, most notably a crash that I had this weekend at the
Wal-Mart trails. Check it. Tomorrow it will be pictures
from that exact same sesh, then an inventory count of slo moe shirts
that I have left. Only 18 left! Then maybe some grands
info. Then I will try to keep as up to date as possible on
"The greatest race on earth."
November 10
This past week has been really awesome. There is really no other way
to explain it. Wednesday and Friday at Kearny had the most talent
that I had ever seen there for gate practice. We had almost a full
gate of AA pros which included Jason Richardson, Derek Betcher, joe
Szurek, Mike Day, Denzel Stein, other top riders included Greg
Romero, Nic Long, Lee Lewis, Thomas Vallejo, Vance Wiesndanger,
Rusty Nesvig, pROy Winkleman, Bryce Hocking, jake Kinney, the Abbe
brothers.... The list can go on and on. It was a good time, both
Friday and Wednesday.
You think I was in good company there... With Olympic Silver
medalist, Dew Tour Winners, World Champions and many more, Yesterday
I think I was in better company. If you have followed my journal,
you have heard of the skatepark that I am trying to get built in my
community of Tierrasanta. Tony Hawk, who grew up in Tierrasanta, has
a findraiser for the Tony Hawk Foundation in which he helps hundreds
of skateparks. But at this event, he honored our skatepark effort.
We raised $86000 solely for our skatepark, and hundreds of thousands
more during the auctions and such. Top talent there included Big
Black, Bam Bam, Shawn white, Buckey Lasek, Andy McDonald, dennis
McCoy, Rick Thorne, Mat Hoffman, Jaime lee Curtis, Bam Margera and
of course Tony Hawk. I took pictures with many of them, and have
pictures up in the photos section. Check em
out.
PS. LOTS of new photos.
November 1
It is November 1st. The day after Halloween, so check out my
costume on the homepage. Last week was the NBL Silver State
National in Las Vegas (Nellis), Nevada. This has historically
been one of my favorite/ one of the BEST tracks in the country.
However, this year, it kinda let me down. It used to be a
track where you would have to jump, because that was the fastest way
around the track. This year, there was 1, maybe 2 jumps on the
track that the fastest line was to jump. DISAPPOINTING!
The good news is that it was my first race as a 19 year old.
New class, 19-25 Expert in the NBL. I thought that the guys I
normally races would still be in 17-18 X, but I was still racing the
same guys that I always do at NBL races! I made all 3 mains,
yes THREE, because on Saturday we had a double header with the
Regional Championships as the second race in the day. I did
good in moto's, and in the mains, I got 6th, 4th, 2nd. A
little bit better every time. I was definitely stoked on my
performance, because I cannot remember the last time I made the main
both days at a National. Well if I think about it, it was
Boulder City last year, which was an entire year ago! The most
notable race of the weekend was my Semi on Saturday, the first race.
In the gate, I was looking around, not really paying attention, and
the gate was more slick than Kearny's, and my feet came off the
pedals. I guess, when I was rushing to get my balance back, I
did not clip in all the way, because on my first pedal out of the
gate, MY FOOT WENT OFF THE PEDALS. It was a Semi, so I needed
top 4, but when I looked up to see how far away they were, I had
almost lost hope. I remembered back 2 years ago, when I
slammed the gate and was still able to make it out of the semi at
the Nellis National. So I got on it. In the 4th corner,
I was setting up a high-low. The thing was, the guy in 5th was
setting up the same move for the guy in 4th! I almost lost
hope again, but as the guy in 5th performed the high low, he
finished it with a bump into the guy in 4th, and that slowed them
both down enough for me to get past them! I was so stoked, and
finished out the lap to make the main! I got many
compliments with that race, and it definitely made it worth the
extra effort.
Shayne Lewis (KMP Local) won both days in the 8X class.
Stan Horton got a 4th and a 2nd in 51-55 cruiser.
October 22
Today was supposed to be an awesome day. In N Out Burger was
supposed to have 30 cent Cheeseburgers in honor of its 60th
Anniversary. That was all a rumor, and therefore ruined my
day. As if Wednesdays weren't bad enough. I have every
single one of my classes at school. Starting at 9 and ending
sometime between 3 and 4. Then I get to relax for a little
bit, and then go to the track. Tonight at the track was a good
one. In one gate, we had Lee Lewis, Thomas Vallejo, Derek
Betcher, Roy Winkleman, Me, Nic Long, Bryce Hocking and Rusty Nesvig.
So we all got some good practice. This weekend is the NBL race
in Las Vegas, NV. Not many people are going there from San
Diego, and it will probably end up being a really small race.
Nevertheless, it is always an awesome track and should be fun.
In conclusion, check out the video on the home page.
SKYDIVING!
October 14
I had an AMAZING weekend. On Thursday I went to Club Aubergine
to celebrate my brother's birthday. It just so happens that
Shia Lebouf was there also! He wouldn't allow us to take
pictures, but we got to see him, and my friends talked to him.
If my gf was 21, she would have been able to go up in the VIP space
with him, but the bouncer wouldn't let her through w/o ID.
Later that night, I heard he got caught smoking pot (in the
bathroom?) and got kicked out of the club.
Friday night, I raced. It was my last race as a 17-18 expert.
It was fun. I don't think I have mentioned this on here yet,
but Greg Romero has became an SD local. Him and his wife(?)
moved down here, and he has been out to the track a few times.
I haven't seen Derek Betcher around lately.
Anyways! Saturday was my BIRTHDAY! I spent the morning doing
homework (LAME!) but later was excited and thrilled to go SKYDIVING!
Pictures are in the photo's section, or you can
I am pretty sure that my guy, Larry, was the most nervous person on
the plane, and that when he opened our shoot, it was twisted.
But, we landed just fine, and got to see the ocean and Otay Lake,
while falling 13,000 feet, so I didn't complain, and didn't ask any
questions. Later, I went to P F Changs with my family and
friends, and then went to Barona Casino and doubled my birthday
money! WHoo! It was a good day.
But the weekend didn't end there. On Sunday, we went out to
the track for a Sunday afternoon ride. It just so happened
that Jill Kintner, 2008 BMX Olympic competitor was there. She
was signing autographs, giving out posters and taking pictures, all
while showing off her Bronze Medal. That was really cool of
her to do, and for that I thank her.
PS. SLOMOE shirts are in. E-Mail, Myspace, Call, Visit, See me
at the track, See me at school, ANYTHING to get one. only 12
dollars and they look REAL good.
October 6
YUP! its October! I haven't been to any races, I haven't been
to MLR, and I haven't been to the skatepark since the last time I
updated! And still haven't done any of that, but I didn't want
to keep my viewers waiting, so I decided to do a quick update.
The shirt design has been finalized, and I am 80 percent sure that I
am going to get them made on Thursday.

This is not the exact design, but it is going to end up being very
similar to this. I have been seeing SO many people wearing
argyle at school that I am going to have to get these shirts out
fast before they go out of style!
I did a little mountain biking on Saturday while everyone was up in
Lancaster in the rain. I went with pro mountain biker Jake
Kinney and Girl Pro mountain biker Kayla Meadows. Danny
Meadows and Jeremy Tooker were there also. It was pretty fun I
guess, but I like to roll on 20" not 26'.
School is good, I need to start studying more!
Sept. 17
So a lot of new stuff has been going down. This past weekend
had a lot of important events. Saturday was the Southern
California State Championships. I was sitting number 1 with 60
points going into the race, and Marc Estep was sitting number 2 with
59 points. In the main, I bonked the first jump, and that
allowed me to get pushed up high in the first corner because I had
gate 8. Marc, with his home field advantage took off, and took
the State Championship title with him. I ended up number 2.
:( Home track advantage was key at this race, because some
other San Diego locals were beat by people who were locals of Orange
Y, where the race was held. Bryce Hocking, Tyler Schaefer and
Erin Schaefer all got the State Championship title to their name.
But in bigger news, in Salt Lake City this weekend was the AST Dew
Tour BMX Supercross race. 18 year old Nic Long from Lakeside,
high-lowed Kyle Bennett and Mike Day in the first corner, and took
his first ever Supercross win. He is the youngest person to
ever win a supercross race, and also the first amateur to do so.
Big congratulations to him, and hopefully I can get him to do a
second interview for SLOMOE.com. On Sunday, Roy W, Rusty N and
Bryce H. went to Clairemont skatepark to shred before going to see
the US Gymnastic Olympic Team perform at the iPayone center.
That is the picture of the week.
PS. I found a T-shirt vendor, so be on the lookout for SLOMOE shirts
real soon! NO JOKING THIS TIME!
SEPTEMBER 6
Today was a good day. I went to the Clairemont skatepark for
the first time in what seems like forever! They have changed
up the park completely and now there is 6,000 people there!
There was a few collisions and a couple of mad people for kids
getting in their way, but other than that it was ORGANIZED chaos!
One of the sickest shredders at the park is Chad Kerley, former bmx
racer. Formula made him a one of a kind park bike, and he does
some sick stuff. 360's, tailwhips, nosepicks, etc. I haven't
seen him ride in a long time, and he tore it up. Also to join
the SD shredders was Connor Fields. He came down this weekend
to practice the OTC track in preparation for Salt Lake City AST Dew
Tour next weekend. After we were there for a while, Connor,
Rusty Nesvig and I headed over to Miracle Trails or Dirt Jumps.
The kids at the park kept asking if they were dirt jumps or trails.
And apparently there is a difference? I don't know what the
answer to that is, but if somebody does, please enlighten me.
We rode there for a while, and then called it a day.
PS. Sorry for no RENO update, but real quick, I got 3rd both days in
open, and Roy Winkelman turned pro! Congrats to him.
Aug 27
This past weekend was the SCQ's in San Diego. I needed one more win
so that I could max out in points going into the State
Championships. On Saturday, I had to race 19-27 expert (I'm in
17-18). I won the first moto with ease. In the main, I was racing
Kyle Cox and I was winning into the first corner, and trying not to
get taken out by him, I took the corner too low and slid out.
Another crash in the last turn allowed me to get 2nd overall. But I
needed a win! On Sunday, I got to race my own class, and got the
win with ease. I raced the Pro-Am, and ended up 5th or 6th. I even
smiled for a picture:

Aug 20
So I have a lot of work to do and catch up on. I is now 3am,
so I am not going to do a super long update, but I am going to give
an agenda on what I need to update on. First of all, I would
like to Congratulate Team USA with 3/4 riders medaling in the debut
Olympics. Mike Day with the Silver medal, and Donny Robinson
and Jill Kintner with the Bronze medals. Maris Strombergs won
the Gold in the mens. Hopefully Maris Horton could be there
for the 2012 olympics! haha
In other news, I have a lot to update on:
-Oregon trip (with pictures)
-Miracle sessions
-Meadows Land Sessions
-Riding with Jason Richardson
-Being on the news
-Riding at the local skatepark
-Olympics
-School starting
I've got a lot to catch up on, so keep on checking back, and keep me
on top of my game!
July 28
Sunday was a good day of riding. A lot of people were at the
ABA National in Salt Lake City, Utah. I hit up Jake Kinney,
and we went and rode the Miracle Dirt Jumps in Clairemont.
Rusty Nesvig showed up for about 4 runs and then went to the
skatepark with his buddy. The weather was perfect, kinda cold,
but not too cold, with a slight breeze, it was nice. Jake has
some big plans for the miracle trails when the rain season comes in.
It is going to be sick. After we got bored of jumping, we went
to Mission Bay to do a curved wall ride. It was frickin
insane! Jake was doing it all easy, but I just couldn't figure
it out... maybe next time..... Then to finish off the day, we
went to Kearny Moto Park to do some gates. It was an awesome
day. I am going to Oregon next week for 12 days, I think I am
going to take my bike, so I need to figure out some places to ride
and keep up my skills!
July 21
Yes, it really has been almost a week since I rode my bike! On
Wednesday, I went to see the Batman movie (yes, before it came out).
My dad took my bike to the track to give to Josh Graham for the
weekend, so I didn't have a bike to ride on Thursday or Friday.
On Saturday, I woke up at 8:30 and remembered that I had left my
wallet at my girlfriends house, and Jake Kinney was going to be
picking me up at 9:00. So I got dressed and rode over to my
girlfriends house, picked up my wallet, came home and ate, all
before Jake showed up to my house. After he picked me up, his
mom took us to the train station to begin our journey. The
train ride was fun, we played games on my iPhone, watched bike
videos on the DVD player and watched all kinds of people get drunk
on the train before we stopped in Anaheim. (The Angels were
playing the Red Socks). Then we cruised on up to Camarillo BMX
for the State Championship Qualifier, which before I got there
already had a bad rep, but turned out to be a pretty sweet track,
short, but still very fun. Jake won his cruiser class, Josh
won his cruiser class and then the pressure was on for me to win my
class! I also took the win, It was a good day. We
then headed to Semi Valley and got a hotel to stay the night.
Sunday was the SCQ at Semi, a completely different track than the
day before. Camarillo was 800 feet long, and Semi was 1400
feet! They had a pro-am sign up, which was put together
(*ahem*rigged) by Sean Storms. I went to sign up, and the
entry fee for it was $20. I didn't have the cash to pay for it
so I was like "forget it" and some guy came up and payed my entry
fee... I had no idea who he was, I had never seen him before or
anything, I told him he didn't have to, but he insisted, and Sean
took the money. There was a $340 dollar pot, and they were
only paying top 4. The kid I was racing (Mark Estep) told me
he was focused on the Pro-am and wasn't going to try in the class
race. I took the win in class, and got 4th in the Pro-am
(Estep got 5th). Once again after winning money in the Pro-am
I tried to give the guy who payed my entry fee his money back, but
he wouldn't take it, so thank you to him! Jake and Josh both
took 2nd place. It was an amazing weekend of racing, I had a
blast, and now I am going to need one more win in order to take the
State Championship. (Cactus and Kearny next month.)
July 15
I didn't really finish that last update, but I have devised a new
plan. It seems quite simple, but it is going to be a
challenge, at least for me. Every time I ride, I am going to
write about it on here. Simple because that is what this site
was made for in the first place, but hard because I find it lame to
write about an hour or 2 of riding, but I figure, something is
better than nothing, and an hour of riding can actually be quite
interesting. I am going to start fresh with today, even though
I have missed writing about some great sessions with Jake Kinney,
and also at Meadows Land. Today was Tuesday, so if you have
checked out my clinic flyer (which was pretty broken, but has been
fixed), you would know that it is Clinic night at Cactus Park.
I have been personally training a 7 year old for the past 2 weeks,
so I got him some training beforehand, and then did the clinic
afterwards. I rode flat pedals so that I can begin to learn
the art of manualing. I have been wanting to learn this for a
long while, but have never really become successful. I worked
on it in the parking lot, and also on the track, and feel pretty
good, especially for my first focused day. I need to thank
Danny and Buffy Meadows publicly for the newest bike part on my
wonderful S&M bicycle. I would like to thank them for my new
Bombshell Revolution BMX wheels. They have allowed me to move
up from my "expert" rims and become a big boy with the "Pro" wheels.
Might I add that they look super nice, and they ride great.
Expect more great updates, more often, from slomoe.com.
July 11
I have been working out and riding a lot lately. I am pretty
proud of myself actually. On Tuesday I did 3 workouts in one
day!
JULY 1
This is going to be a double update, so lets start with part 1:
Today I went up to S&M bikes to pick up my dirt jumper. I got
a clear LTF frame, and almost everything else for that bike. I
will have pictures as soon as I get most of it together. I
think all that I need is hubs and spokes. It is pretty awesome
thanks to Chris and all of the "special" people that work with him.
After that me and my dad went to Orange Y BMX to get some practice.
Practice up there is pretty crazy. There is a lot of pros, but
they don't all get in the same gate like we do/try at Kearny.
Pros including Tyler Brown, Kris Fox, Mike Brabant, Leo Garcia, Chad
Roberts and Willie Suarez along with top amateurs Matt Tishler and
Kory Cook (who shreds it up there.) The 41 and over cruiser
class up there was pretty good. Larry Miamoto, Stan Horton and
Rob (Nag1) Raymonde all battled it out, but the local Larry took the
win.
Part 2
After the National at Manzanita BMX, I stayed with Al Roybal, and he
showed me around the best of NorCal, and the best riding spots.
On Monday, we went and rode a bike park by the beach in Santa Cruz.
This park was pretty fun, had some fun little box jumps, and a wall
ride. I tried to wall ride to the right my first lap, but
quickly learned that I wall ride to the left. After that, we
went to the Watsonville jumps. These jumps are beautiful, you
have to have a key to go there, and they said they hadn't been
taking very good care of them lately, but they were still amazing.
The jumps were very big and intimidating, but after you hit a few of
them, you realized that they were pretty easy. You can look at
pictures of them in the Photos section.
The next day, we went to a skatepark in Hollister, and all of the
kids there were shredders, so that was pretty cool. We went to
Watsonville later that day (again) and then we went to the track for
some gate practice. On Wednesday, we went to the Polo Grounds,
and there was some pretty sweet jumps there. They weren't much
compared to Watsonville, but they were fun to mess around on, there
are some pics of us jumping there too.
Stay tuned for the next leg of my adventure.... SUPERCAMP.
June 26
The past couple days I have spent in NorCal. But we will start
out with the good stuff down in San Diego. "The Dutch were in
SD riding at Kearny and the training center. Lieke Klaus, Rob
Van Den Wildenberg and Raymon Van Der Biezen" Thats pretty
cool, especially because they got to ride the awesome track on KMP.
I guess a lot of country's are going to be coming here and riding
the training center, because last Friday I was driving up to
Prunedale with Javier Colombo and Christine Becerene (Becerene who
made the Olympic Team for Argentina, and Colombo who is the
alternate, [even though he was the world champion 2 years ago??]),
They told me that they get to go ride the training center also.
I practiced at Manzanita Park BMX. Friday practice at NBL
races is always small. Saturday was actually a really good
day. I ended up 2nd Place in the Main Event. Something
that I was very PROUD of. On Sunday I was a SCHMUCK and got
passed by 2 people at the line in my SEMI! AHH! You can
watch both of those races on GO211.com. Also, you can watch
Kyle Bennett winning both days, pure POWER! Getting ready for
the Olympics starting pretty soon. In other news! DR Donny
Robinson has announced that he has made the Olympic Team as the
coaches pick. Stay tuned on how the rest of my week went and
more of my adventures in NOr-CAL.
June 18
The biggest news in BMX lately is of couse Mike Day earning his spot
on the 2008 BMX Olympic Team. I have known Mike Day for a very
long time. Since these Time Trial Events have been going on,
Mike has been a star in all of them, but on Saturday he proved that
he can beat the best riders in the US not only in the time trial,
but also in 2 out of 3 rounds. If you don't know what I am
talking about, then I guess you should know that there was a Olympic
Trials race in Chula Vista, and the winner of that was chosen to be
on the Olympic Team. Congrats to him. I have a picture
of me and him after the race, but I haven't been able to get the
camera from my Mom, so I figured I was just due for an UPDATE!
I never heard back from Vikkie Stiles, so I am going to need to find
someone else to make some shirts for me!
I have a busy schedule sneaking up on me real quick. I am
going to go up and race at the NBL National in Prundale, CA this
weekend, and then SuperCamp is the Thursday after that, and so I
figure I can just stay up there with Al Roybal and do the NorCal
thing country style!
June 5
Just a heads up, tomorrow June 6 is SloMoe shirt day, so get your
shirts ready and represent! There was no practice today,
because it decided to rain today, that came out of nowhere. A
little moisture is always good for the dirt around here. I
have been pretty busy lately. I went to Colorado for my
cousins graduation, congratulations to him. During that time,
my parents went to China for the 2008 BMX World Championships.
They were in need of an announcer, and my dad Stan Horton stepped up
to the plate and did a pretty good job. He did so good, they
invited him back for next year in Australia. In the race, he
crashed in his first round, and had trouble making the points up to
make it out of rounds. The USA is only allowed to send one woman
to the Olympics, and Jill Kitner made it to the main placed 6th, and
made the Olympic spot by 1 point. The US is allowed to send 3
men, and Kyle Bennett is the only for sure person to go. The
Coaches pick will either go to Cisar or Robinson, and if one of them
wins the race in Chula Vista on June 14, it should make the decision
very easy for them. It is pretty crazy with all of the
politics involved in it though, so who knows! New pic on the
homepage is from 6 Flags last Thursday.
May 22
Last night at Kearny Moto Park was a pretty slow night. There
was a few people there for practice, but for racing, the oldest
class was 14expert. Jason Richardson, Jason Alstatt and Kiyomi
Waller were the Pro's that were out practicing. It seems that
a lot of people are going to New Mexico this weekend for the spring
National, so good luck to them. I will be heading out to
Colorado to see my cousin graduate, and then he is coming to hang
out in SD for about a month! I need to show him how to have a
good time. So today I have a lot to do: clean the house, pack
some clothes, get my cousins room ready, work out, (already went to
the dentist), and that is about it... I haven't heard back
from the T-Shirt lady, but when I do, I will let you know,
because I am excited to get them out with all of the positive
feedback I am getting on them.
May19
Saturday was a pretty fun day. Al Roybal came down from NorCal
to hang out with some of his Marine Buddies and Erika Short.
He wanted to ride some trails, so I took him and Erika to the
Miracle Trails. It was pretty fun, but they were kinda scared
of them, so I decided to take them to San Marcos trails. They
had a good time there, both of them jumped the left(big) side, and
had some fun. I threw some decent tuck no-handers, so I was
pretty excited about that. Al decided that he didn't want to
go to Mexico with his buddies, so he wanted to go to an 18+ club
with Erika and I. My parents also came, and we went up to the
country club Stampede in Temecula. They have a mechanical
bull, and Al and I rode it:

I jammed my thumb the first time, and the second time I jammed my
hand in my nuts and fell off. It was really fun, and I had a
great time. Check out
www.jump2jump.com if you are in the Nor-Cal area and have any
connections with schools. Al runs a great program on Alcohol
and Drug prevention that incorporates BMX. Good stuff.
May 15th
I am officially done with my first year of college! (whooo!!)
To celebrate, last night I participated in the 2008 spring semester
SDSUndie Run! It was super fun, and super intense. There
were so many half naked people... it was ridiculous. This is a
picture of a SMALL portion of us running though
the library.. you can see me in the cowboy hat on the bottom right.

Before I went to the undie run, I went to KMP for a pretty good
night of racing and practicing. In my main event, we combined
motos with Rusty's moto, and it went Rusty Nesvig, Nic Long, Me, and
then a mixture of Shelbi Long, Bryce Hocking, Garret Rose, and 2
other people. It was all good and fun. Yesterday was a
really good day: last day of school, BMX and Undie Run, what a good
start to summer!
6th of May
2 updates in a row? what??? yeah, that's right. I don't really
have anything too intense to write about, but I do have a few
pictures that I would like to talk about. First of all, on the
home-page, you can check out the new t-shirt design.
E-mail me your
thoughts on if you like it, or what I can do to improve it.
And if you do like it, tell me your size, and I should be able to
get you one shortly. But the other picture I would like to
talk about is from 1994. I had just turned 5 years old, went
to the ABA Grand Nationals (the only ABA Grands that I have been
to). I had a broken elbow, and I got 6th place in 5 and under
Novice. And I would like to compare it to a pic taken just
this weekend. I am 18 years old, and I made the 17 and over
open main, and got 3rd place.

haha.
Cinco de Drink-o
I really wasn't feeling the vibe of Tulare, and actually told people
that I didn't want to go to the race. I had a tough week in
school, with a paper (yes Danny, with writing on it), a Calculus
test (88%) and a Chemistry Test (95%). The Chemistry test was
on friday, so Iwasn't able to go up to Tulare and practice, so
instead I just went with my Girlfriend to the beach and relaxed, and
left on Saturday Morning. Saturday was a good day. My
first moto, I snapped out of the gate and was in 1st! I was
stoked on that, so by the end of my first race, I had already made a
main. In quarters, I tried to take out LeAndre Parker, and
that didn't work out too well, so thats where my class day ended.
In my open main, I ended up 3rd behind Vallejo and Shankel.
LaSaan Kobza made his pro Debut, and got balled up in his semi.
On Sunday he also made the main, and was tied for second going into
3rd round, but got balled up in the first corner with Ohrazda, and
ended up 6th. Good luck to him in his pro Career. Bryce
Hocking was killing it all weekend, even leading the main event on
Sunday. Rusty Nesvig was getting some competition, and didn't
win Open either day, but was able to turn it on in Class and win
that both days. Vallejo doubled on Saturday, and Double
Doubled on Sunday (two 2nd places.). Lee Lewis who lives in
Oceanside, won 17-18 X on Saturday. My dad made the main both
days finishing 4th and 5th. Tyler Schaefer, Nate Abbe, Jacob
Abbe, Erin Schaefer, Shelbi Long, Sean Gaian, Deak Brown and Shayne
Lewis all did really good also, SAN DIEGO REPRESENT! Oh, and
how could I forget, I made my FIRST expert main event, EVER at an A
national. Ever! I could understand in a long time, but I
mean EVER! If you can prove me wrong, you get a free t-shirt.
It was pretty nervous, but I ended up 5th! Stoked on that, and
can't wait until Prunedale!
And believe it or not, I have some new pictures
posted. Hit it up!
April 25
I haven't really been doing much lately. I went out to Danny's
house yesterday. My dad wanted to jump something to get ready
for China. He was having trouble with the tight turns at
Danny's house though. It was prettty much just me and my dad,
so it was nothing too intense. Kris Fox showed up to switch
out his frame. That's about all that happened.
April 9
This past weekend was the much hyped Pacific Nationals in Whittier,
CA. It was a pro Race, and there were plenty of Pro's there.
On Saturday, Kyle Bennet raced and killed it like always. Many
people assumed that he would be in Australia for the big supercross
race, but in a www.go211.com
interview he said that he just needs a break. Nic Long and
Kris Fox also showed up on Saturday, and flew out that night to
Australia. My dad's welcome home party was on Saturday, so he
didn't show up on Saturday, and I asked Jason if he was going to go
down to San Diego at 4 for the party, and he said, I expect to be on
the podium at 4:00, and sure enough he was! Congrats to him on
a 3rd place finish. Rusty Nesvig killed it all weekend, Bryce
Hocking ended up with a pair of 3rds, I got a 4th, 6th, and
crashed and got and an 8th. Nic Long killed it in class and
open, Kris Fox got 2nd in Super-Ex, Shelbi Long killed her class
(pumping the whole last straight), Kiristen Long killed it, Shayne
Lewis also won. It was a good Saturday for San Diego. On
Sunday, my dad raced, and tried to pimp Scott Angus in the last
corner, and ended up losing all of his momentum.
PS. Jake McCurdy and I are now doing clinics on Tuesday nights at
Cactus Park. For more information CLICK
HERE.
March 27
I don't know why I haven't updated in a while... I have been doing
soo much! I am actually heading to Vegas in the morning, and I
still haven't packed, but over 2 weeks without an update is
ridiculous. I think I am just going to put everything I have
done lately in bullet form because I have done so much and have such
little time.
- Phoenix National, I made a main! Which I haven't done in quite
some time! YAY!
- The17-21 was the most hectic week of school I have ever had!
I had 3 exams, a quiz, and a paper due! One each day! It was
ridiculous!
- Saturday 22- Sesh at Meadows land with a lot of people,
INCLUDING my dad Stan Horton, on his first day back from IRAQ!
(Welcome Home). He was going crazy and jumping on his first
day back!
- 23- Easter! Happy Easter to all of you!
- 24- race at cactus! I was beating Rusty Nesvig the whole
way around the track, and he beat me by an inch at the line! ahhh!
Good race though.
- 25- Clinic at Cactus! ($10 every Tuesday at Cactus
6-8:30... be there!)
- 26-Kearny sesh. Jumping the second jump into the sun was
sick, there was like 4-5 new people jumping the second jump, it was
awesome.
- 27- went to cactus and Barona... came out even! Pretty
legit!
- TODAY! I'm Going to class for an hour and then heading to Vegas
for the weekend.
A lot of people are in Desoto, Texas for the weekend, so I will
be updating you with that throughout the weekend. Good luck to
all!
March 12
I thought tonight was going to be a big night at KMP, because it is
the Wednesday before a National! Phoenix's Winter Nationals
are this weekend. I think many of the people have already
left? I really am not sure. Roy Winkleman, LaSaan Kobza
(who is on the cover of the new BMXer about to eat crap), Bryce
Hocking, Jake Kinny, Jason Allstat, Tommy Vallejo, Chris Schaefer
and Tyler Schaefer were about the only people there. We had a
special guest appearance by Kyle Murf Dog Murphy, who is from NorCal,
but has spent a few days down here with Roy. Mike Warner was
out at the track giving out all of the secrets to the Phoenix track.
Him and his son Chachi Warner went out there this weekend for a
SuperCamp, so they got to see the newly rebuilt track before anyone
else. It was a pretty slow night, but I hope everyone does
well this weekend in PHOENIX, AZ!
PS. New pic is of me up at real ride this weekend.
PPS. The MLR Invitational has been rescheduled for some time in
September. I have been meaning to put that up on this site,
but I always forget! Can't WAIT!
March 9th
Today I woke up at 7:30 AM (Which was really like 6:30 because of
the time change.) I went up to Real Ride, (aka DaCompound?)
with Jake Kinny, Garret Rose, Bryce Hocking, Josh Graham and a few
other guys that I met for the first time today. The dirt jumps
there are really fun, Garret found a cool transfer line that made it
even more fun. The park was alright, but I found out that I
really am just not a park rider. It was superfun, and I will
see if I am able to get some pics from Josh, because it was a super
fun day.
March 8th
So, every Wednesday and Friday at KMP, there is going to be an
intense Pro-Am open class. On Wednesday, I was not able to
stay for the race, but RoyW.44 said it went down like this, "Vallejo
won, Nic got 2nd, Kris with 3rd, and the rest was a bundle up of
Rusty, Deak, Lahsaan, Tischler, and Bryce. Even though Bryce didnt
make it and Joe Szurek did, and Joe didnt wanna race and let Bryce
race for him." On Friday night, it was another crazy open.
In the main, Vallejo got 1st, and then LaSaan Kobza, Matt Tishler,
Kris Fox, Bryce Hocking, SLOMOE, RoyW44 and Nic Long flipped
the gate. 2 wins in a row for Vallejo is pretty awesome, props
to him. Afterwards, it was Jake McCurdy's Birthday, so there
was a lot of motor-homes, and a lot of people stayed the night and
rode the track 'til the wee hours of the night.
March 1st.
SLOMOE was down for a month. I guess i needed a break.
It is now March. That is why the site has gone green.
Not because I am for the environment or anything like that!
Because quite frankly... I could care less. I do not want to
bore you with a whole month of news, so I will start fresh with what
happened on the extra day of 2008, February 29th. My mom got
out of the hospital today! She had surgery on Wednesday, and
she is already back home and walking around! Thanks to all of
you whom sent your prayers and hopes to her, I really appreciate it.
I went to Kearny Moto Park which has been really awesome lately.
Tonight we had a pro/am, and it was rough:

I felt pretty good. But to finish this
update I would like to wish my dad, Stan Horton, a
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Jan 31st
Last weekend was the race in Phoenix/Goodyear, AZ. You can see
the track and all of the UCI races at
http://www.linkd.tv/2%20bmx.html. thats the new Linkd.tv... I'm
not really sure what the deal with it is... but they have every moto
and every quarter, so its pretty legit. On Saturday everyone
else raced. A whopping 75 motos, which was apparently a shock
because the NBL was expecting around 40. On Sunday the rain
came and the race was cancelled.
With the Olympic Training Center now open, I have seen many top pros
hanging around at Kearny Moto Park. Some of which include
Erica Short, Ariell Martin, Liam Phillips, Mike Day, Greg Romero the
list will keep on growing. Liam Phillips? what he is not
American, I'm not really sure what his deal is, but apparently he is
staying with the Longs? I'm not really sure.
And uh... Super Bowl this weekend... I'm calling the Patriots.
Jan 23rd
This weekend is the race in Goodyear, AZ. But from the weather
reports, it is supposed to be really rainy! I am not scared
though, and I am going anyways! The super bowl is in Glendale
in 2 weekends, and they are neighboring cities, so that should be
interesting if the race gets done early or something. It is
raining here in San Diego too, so the track was closed tonight!
I drove all the way out there to find the lights off and people just
hanging out in the dark. I am excited for this weekend.
I actually just checked the rain report, and it says that it isn't
supposed to rain until Sunday! The NBL's rule is that if a
race is finished on Saturday, and it rains on Sunday, then you get
the same place and points as the day before! So I better do
good on SATURDAY!
Jan 21st.
Today was the grand opening of the Olympic Training Center for BMX
in Chula Vista. Well, its not an Olympic Training Center for
BMX... its just a new part of the Olympic Training Center which
already existed. It was really neat. It was like the
official Ribbon Cutting of the track and some riders rode the track
and showed what its all about. Afterwards a lot of the camera
crews conducted interviews of the people who are involved in it.
I have pictures of the track and stuff in my pictures section.
If you don't know how to get there just click
here and it will take you straight to them.
Jan 14th.
Back from Reno today! It was a real good time. I flew
out on Friday morning. Practice went real well. The
first jump was really long and I don't know if there was a real
consistent way to get over it. Unless you were Denzel Stein
and were 2 bikes ahead by the first jump. He killed it in A
Pro this weekend winning every single main event. He said he
wants to earn his way to AA and he isn't going to turn himself AA
right away. In my class, Nic Long killed it all weekend,
winning class and open both days. I made quarters and semis,
but no main events for me... Maybe a little bit more effort in
the next couple weeks and I can do something in Goodyear, AZ.
Vance Wiesndanger turned pro this weekend, along with Jim Brown,
Denzel Stein, Willy Suarez, Deak Brown along with a few others who
did exceptionally well in the A pro class. And Jason Alstat
from San Diego turned Vet PRo this weekend and made some mains, but
got hurt in main number 1 on Sunday. Sunday night is supposed
to be party night at Reno's GSR formerly the Hilton, but this year
it was empty! Not completely empty, but from the people who
were there, they were all disapointed! I flew home this
morning, and the airline left my bag in Reno. Well, they left
my "golf clubs." But I got them back around 7 PM, and made 50
bucks for them not having to deliver them. Pretty fun weekend!
January 4th 2008
First of all, Happy New Year to all of my viewers!
Second, Today is the first slomoe shirt Friday of 2008! So if you
don't have a slomoe shirt on right now, you better go to your closet
and get one on!
And lastly, yesterday was a pretty good day! I woke up at 9 am
and got all registered for my spring semester classes! That
was intense... because it was at 9am, I know... horrible! So
after that I went back to sleep. At 3, I headed out to Meadows
Land for a really quite large sesh! There was a lot of people
there, from Jake Kinney, Vance Wiesndanger, Brian Otten, Kevin
Jones, Nic Long, Rooooooy Winkelman, Deak Brown, and some others!
It was good! They made some changes, and its still super fun!
After that, some people headed out to Cactus for the newly
redesigned Cactus. I didn't see it, but apparently, they
changed the first jump... it used to be a camelback, and now its a
table top... I'm not really sure, I will have to go out there
and check it out first hand...
Reno is in a week. People are getting ready for that, and so
am I! I'll see you there! |
